Ramaphosa to review, shape his cabinet

Reading Time: < 1 minute

President Cyril Ramaphosa says the reviewing of the size and shape of Cabinet is receiving attention.

Ramaphosa said this in a written reply to a question from the DA spokesperson on Finance David Maynier on whether or not he would place a moratorium on members of the executive who are accompanied by their spouses on international trips.

This follows revelations that more than R870 000 was spent on an international trip on the wife of Home Affairs Minister Malusi Gigaba, Noma, when he was Finance minister.

She had accompanied his husband on investor road shows to China, United Kingdo and United States.

The Presidency says the question by Maynier is receiving attention.

A preliminary analysis of the executive against the Constitutional and legislative framework, has been completed.

When he became President, Ramaphosa promised to consider a leaner and more cost effective government, including a smaller cabinet.
