Ramaphosa to announce new National Director of Public Prosecutions

The President will make the final decision on Tuesday.

President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to name and announce the new National Director of Public Prosecutions at the Union Buildings in Pretoria on Tuesday.

The NDPP will head the National Prosecuting Authority.

Five candidates remain on the shortlist after interviews by an advisory panel chaired by Minister of Energy Jeff Radebe.

The nominees, who are all advocates, are Shamila Batohi, Siyabulela Mapoma, Simphiwe Mlotshwa,  Rodney de Kock and Andrea Johnson.

One of them will succeed Shaun Abrahams, whose position at the head of the NPA was set aside by the Constitutional Court.
