President Cyril Ramaphosa will address the nation at 20h00 on Saturday.
The President’s address follows a meeting earlier this week of the National Coronavirus Command Council and meetings on Saturday of the President’s Coordinating Council and Cabinet.
The President’s address will be broadcast live on television and radio. It will also be streamed live on a range of online platforms, including SABC Digital News.

CogTA wants State of National Disaster extended
Earlier, the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA) said Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma will be proposing an extension of the National State of Disaster to Cabinet when it meets this afternoon.
Should Cabinet agree on the proposal, this would mean the nationwide lockdown will remain in place. However, some regulations may be amended and the country may be taken to a lower alert level.
