Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa has been announced as the Western Cape’s preferred candidate for the African National Congress’s (ANC) president.
The Western Cape branches made the deadline to conclude their nominations, with Ramaphosa securing 121 nominations from the 145 branches, while his main rival Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, reportedly received only 13.
Lindiwe Sisulu received the most branch nominations for the post of Deputy President with 98.
ANC Secretary General Gwede Mantashe was nominated as the preferred candidate for the position of National Chairperson, with 128 branch nominations.
