Ramaphosa promises strong action against those responsible for PPE corruption

President Cyril Ramaphosa was addressing the nation on the country's response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

President Cyril Ramaphosa has promised strong action against those who corruptly benefited from the procurement of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as the country battled coronavirus.

He was addressing the nation on the country’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the video below, President Cyril Ramaphosa addresses the nation: 

Currently several government officials are implicated in corruption relating to the buying of PPEs.

The President also announced that South Africa would enter level two of the lockdown from midnight on Monday.

Tobacco and alcohol sales would be allowed under level two – subject to certain restrictions.
