Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa says government needs to take advantage of renewed investor confidence to bolster the country’s weak economy.

He was addressing leaders of organised labour at a Nedlac meeting on Tuesday ahead of the Cabinet Lekgotla which will start in Pretoria Wednesday morning.

The three-day meeting will lay ground work for the State-of-the-Nation-Address.

Attending the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland recently, Ramaphosa told global investors that government would fight corruption, boost the economy, and provide policy certainty especially in mining.

Ramaphosa highlighted the importance of investor confidence.

He says: “What we need to do with this renewed interest and confidence in our country, we must use 2018 to restore the confidence of South Africans for great progress. We want to see transformation having accepted that we lived in a fractured country.”
