President Cyril Ramaphosa is delivering the keynote address at the main Freedom Day celebration, being held in packed Molemela stadium in Bloemfontein.
So far, he has touched on the growing role of women and other advances in South Africa’s democracy, which is 24 years old today.
Ramaphosa was earlier welcomed to the stadium with a military display and a flypast by the air force.

Free State Premier Sisi Ntombela preceded him on the podium, where she greeted the president and other dignitaries with traditional praises.
