Ramaphosa files affidavit to bar remedial action against Gordhan

President Cyril Ramaphosa made the decision to file supporting affidavits in the High Court in Pretoria relating to Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan.

The affidavits seek to suspend the enforcement of remedial action against Gordhan as recommended by the Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane.

The legal action arises from Mkhwebane’s investigation into a matter involving the establishment of a ‘rogue’ investigative unit at South African Revenue Service (SARS).

In one of the affidavits that the President filed he said, “It is really unfortunate that it had to get to this stage where it seems as if the state is at war with each other. We believe that this is not a political question but a legal one that requires our courts to be able to answer…”
