President Cyril Ramaphosa and German Chancellor Angela Merkel are expected to hold bilateral talks in Berlin on Monday afternoon. Ramaphosa, who arrived in the German capital on Monday morning, is expected to attend the G20 Africa Summit on Tuesday.
The meeting is set to centre around investment in South Africa.
Director General for Treasury Dondo Mogajane says as they meet with the Germany Chancellor they would like to see more investments from the European giant. “It’s important that we continue passing the message on that South Africa is open for investment; getting support from international players like Germany will be very important. I can imagine the meeting will centre around how do we partner further with Germany in advancing our own economies and the interests of South Africa.”
The focus on Tuesday is expected to shift to the African continent, with prospects of investments top on the agenda.
