President Cyril Ramaphosa says the Mother of the Nation's stregnthen and stocisim enabled her to withstand the brutality of the apartheid government.

President Cyril Ramaphosa says Winnie Madikizela-Mandela‘s commitment and dedication to the liberation struggle gained her love and respect of the South African people.

She died at Milpark Hospital in Johannesburg earlier on Monday.

Ramaphosa says the Mother of the Nation’s strength and stoicism enabled her to withstand the brutality of the apartheid government.

Conveying his condolences, the president said Madikizela-Mandela’s 81 years should be celebrated. “She remained throughout a tireless advocate for the disposed and marginalised. She was a voice for the voiceless.”

“In the coming days, as we mourn the passing of this heroine. Let us reflect on her rich and remarkable life and let us draw inspiration from the struggles that she fought and the dream to a better society.”
