President Cyril Ramaphosa has commended the country’s nine premiers for ensuring that integrated development in their provinces benefits rural areas.

He was speaking at the opening of the President’s Coordinating Council at the Union Buildings in Pretoria on Friday morning. The meeting was called to receive progress report on the implementation of the government’s district-based model for development.

The model is meant to improve service delivery in a coordinated manner across all three spheres of government. Ramaphosa says the model is beginning to bear fruit.
