African National Congress (ANC) President Cyril Ramaphosa has arrived at Mthatha, in the Eastern Cape, for the party’s Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) meeting.

Ramaphosa is leading the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) in engaging with the ANC leadership in the province.

The party holds this meeting ahead of the party’s Provincial Elective Conference in April this year.

Ramaphosa says they are doing the evaluation process at the provincial level.

“We are going all over the country/. We are meeting our PEC  members. Tomorrow [Sunday] we [are] going to meet our branches and we going on with election process that we went through. This is a very normal process that the ANC engages in to enable the members of the ANC to engage with our leaders at a provincial level,” explains ANC President.

Last week, former ANC President Thabo Mbeki engaged with party members in the Free State in an effort to forge unity and renew the ANC ahead of its provincial elective conference scheduled to take place this year.

The party has experienced divisions in the Free State province since 2012.
