Bright summer weather in London came to an endtodaywith light rain falling early in the day but dry conditions are still expected for the Olympic opening ceremony starting at 10 pm local time. Heavy showers were forecast during the course of the day, with maximum temperatures expected at 25 degrees Celsius.
“There should be no more rain after 8 pm,” said Claire Austin from MeteoGroup. The first day of competition is to be warm and dry with sunny spells, which is good news for athletes and organizers. The men’s cycling road race featuring Tour de France champion Bradley Wiggins is expected to draw massive crowds to the streets of London. Heavy showers are to return on Sunday, with slippery conditions which could affect the women’s road race. Britain is going through a very wet summer with partial flooding but the past week had seen bright sunshine and temperatures soaring above 30 degrees in London and southern areas.
