An organisation in Cape Town which provides integrated wildfire support services, is offering a reward of R10 000 for information about incidents of possible arson in the Tokai Forest.

Enviro Wildfire Services Investigator, Rob Erasmus, says a spate of 11 fires have occurred over the past month in cleared sections of the forest.

He says firefighters believe the fires were started maliciously.

“A reward of R10 000 has been offered for information that leads to the successful prosecution of the person who has been setting fires in the Tokai Forest area. There is no doubt that the fires have been set intentionally. Eleven fires have been set during the month of December. The investigation is on-going. We’re making very good progress.”
