Quitting a teaching job paid off: Ntswane

Baroka FC defender Lawrence Ntswane’s gamble of quitting a teaching job paid off after he signed for the Telkom Cup Champions last season in March.

He became a regular player in central defence to help the team survive relegation by a whisker. He featured in seven league matches for Baroka.

Ntswane is happy the risk paid off.

Ntswane was signed from the Tshwane University of Technology where he featured for them in the Nedbank Cup last 32 clash against Cape Umoya FC, which they lost.

Prior to that he played for the University of Pretoria Varsity team.

He also represented University Sport South Africa team at the World University Games in Taiwan in 2017.

Ntswane is happy Baroka FC survived relegation.

The 27-year-old even scored a crucial goal against Free State Stars away from home. That goal ensured that the Limpopo team survived and Stars were eventually relegated.

He was happy for scoring his debut goal in the elite league.

Ntswane signed two and half year deal with Baroka.

Assistant Coach Bushy Moloi was instrumental in bringing him to the team. He is hoping that they can finish in the top eight next season instead of fighting for relegation.

Just like any other professional player, Ntswane would like to represent Bafana Bafana at some point in his career. But for now he is focused on making his mark for his team. – Report by Vincent Sitsula
