A number of trucks have briefly blocked the N1 outbound just after the R300 in Cape  Town’s northern suburbs.

Western Cape Traffic spokesperson, Jandre Bakker, says the truck drivers were protesting against the employment of foreign nationals in the long-distance truck industry.

Similar protests have taken place in other parts of the country.

Bakker says traffic was disrupted for about half an hour before the roadway was cleared.

He says currently traffic is free-flowing in the area and the police are investigating the incident.
