Just like their football counterparts earlier this week, South Africa’s national women’s cricket team made a disappointing start to the ICC’s Women’s T20 World Cup in England and Wales.

The Proteas, runners-up in Dubai two years ago, lost to six-time champions Australia by 65 runs in their opening match at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester.

South Africa managed to restrict the Australians to 172 for eight in their 20 overs, but they were disorganized in their chase, and were unceremoniously bundled out for a paltry 107 in the only the 17th over.

Their next match in Group 1 is against Pakistan in Birmingham on Wednesday.
