The South African cricket team has suffered its second biggest innings defeat in history after New Zealand beat them by an innings and 276 runs in the first test in Christchurch.
The Proteas who trailed the Black Caps by 387 runs after the first innings, were bowled out for 111 in their second innings before lunch on day three.
Temba Bavuma top scored with 41, while Tim Southee became New Zealand’s top wicket taker on home soil. He took five for 35 in 17 overs and four deliveries.
The Black Caps, who have never won a test series against South Africa, have an unassailable one-nil lead in the two-match series. The second test will also be played in Christchurch and starts next Friday.
