South Africa's Dean Elgar celebrates during a match against India, a few weeks before their series against Bangladesh.

The South African cricket team has made a promising start to the second test match against Bangladesh at St George’s Park in Gqeberha.

The Proteas who lead the two-match series one-nil went to lunch on 107 for the loss of one wicket.

Captain Dean Elgar who opted to bat first, scored his third successive half-century and was unbeaten on 59, scored off just 780 deliveries.

Keegan Petersen is the other not out batsman on 24.
