Proteas looking to white-wash Aussies in ODI series – Ngidi

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Proteas fast bowler Lungi Ngidi says he is pleased with his match-winning performances, especially having led the team to a 2-0 lead in the ongoing ODI series against Australia.

South Africa beat the Aussies by six wickets in Bloemfontein on Wednesday to clinch the three-match series with an unassailable lead with Ngidi and Janneman Malam named joint-Player of the Match.

In the audio below, Ngidi says the team is in very high spirits at the moment and they will be looking to white-wash the Australians when they meet in Potchefstroom on Saturday.

Ngidi, who has been making his return watchfully following a string of injuries in between series in the last 18 months, says he is also happy with his progress after being on the sidelines for most of the summer.

The 23-year-old ended his shift with career-best figures of 6/58 and also became the quickest to amass 50 wickets for South Africa, achieving that feat in just 26 matches.

Ngidi also spoke highly of opening batsman Janneman Malan, who carried his bat through the Proteas innings on his way to 129 not out in 139 balls, saying he showed a glimpse of what the younger generation are capable of.

In the audio below, Ngidi speaks about the team’s performance, especially the newcomers.
