Sixteen shacks have been completely gutted in two separate fire incidents which took place in Alexandra, north of Johannesburg last night.
One woman was taken to the hospital after suffering smoke inhalation.
No fatalities have been reported.
Johannesburg Emergency Services spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi says an investigation is underway into the cause of the fire.
“One was reported in the far east bank and the other one was reported along 16th Avenue. A total number of about 10 and six shacks were reported in those two in those fire incidents with one female treated for smoke inhalation and transported to health care facility by our provincial health care services.”
