The Ex Political Prisoners Association has called for the arrest of the person who reportedly will be selling the key to Nelson Mandela’s Robben Island prison cell.

The key is expected to be sold in a United States online auction next month.

It is said that it could fetch up to one million pounds.

Former President Mandela spent 18 years of his 27 years incarceration on the Island.

The Association’s Mpho Masemola says, “This theft this is a criminal act and it has violated all the governance of the Heritage Act in terms of the Intellectual Property Act. If you steal a key  that belongs to the state then that person must be arrested.”
