Britain’s Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, appeared on Sunday at an outdoor stadium fundraising concert that organisers said was the first large-scale music event for a COVID-compliant and fully vaccinated audience since the pandemic began.

The ‘Vax Live Concert to Reunited the World’ was organised by international advocacy group Global Citizen to raise money for COVID-19 vaccine distribution.

Global Citizen previously announced Prince Harry and his wife Meghan were campaign chairs of the concert. Jennifer Lopez, Eddie Vedder, Foo Fighters and J Balvin performed for an audience of vaccinated frontline healthcare and essential workers. US President Joe Biden, first lady Jill Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris also addressed the show virtually.

The idea behind the concert is to encourage people to get vaccinated and secure new commitments from governments and the private sector toward the equitable distribution of COVID-19 vaccines worldwide, according to Global Citizen.

The concert will be broadcast and streamed globally on May 8.
