Reading Time: 2 minutes

The two leading African National Congress (ANC) presidential hopefuls are visiting the province of KwaZulu-Natal to solicit support ahead of the party’s national elective conference in Johannesburg next week.

ANC Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa and senior member Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma will address party members in different parts of the province this weekend.

Dlamini-Zuma and Ramaphosa are in the province to ensure that they win the support of this region which has the biggest number of delegates that will attend the conference in Johannesburg next week.

The two ANC leaders have been elected by the provinces to take over the baton of the leadership of the ANC from President Jacob Zuma when he steps down as the leader of the party next week. Although party branches differ vastly throughout the country, it’s the number of delegates that will elect the leader at the conference.

Ramaphosa will visit the Nazareth Baptist Church at Mtubatuba on the north coast on Saturday morning and later proceed to the congregation’s Mthwalume church on the south coast.

Meanwhile, Dlamini-Zuma will address a rally at Clemont Township west of Durban on Saturday. On Sunday she will precede to her birthplace at Bulwer to receive blessings of her community, her ancestors, the family of Gwevanenxiwa Dlamini her late father.
