The Presidential Climate Commission has started a process aimed at fostering relations with institutions of higher learning including the University of Mpumalanga.

The commission engaged the management of the university and other stakeholders on how the university could offer courses that would respond to the needs of Green energy.

Presidential Climate Commission Head of Communications, Blessing Manale, says they have engaged other institutions such as the Tshwane University of Technology and Nkangala TVET College to forge collaborations.

Manale says, “Universities globally are beginning to think how the curriculum can be responsive to development. You do not want to teach what the society does not need and this being the youngest university in the country, it stands a better opportunity to do things differently. It stands to be the apex of how the skills in this province are deployed and what kind of skills the province prioritise.”
