President Cyril Ramaphosa has congratulated his Nigerian counterpart Muhammadu Buhari after his successful re-election. The official results were announced earlier on Tuesday morning.

Nigerians went to the polls last weekend following a seven-day delay by the Electoral Commission.

President Ramaphosa says Nigerians should be commended both for their patience following the postponement of the election date and the peace that prevailed over the election process.

He has also expressed his commitment to working with President Buhari’s government to enhance bilateral relations between South Africa and Nigeria.
