President Cyril Ramaphosa says he has learned with sadness of the death of at least 27 people, including two small children, in a multiple-vehicle crash on the N1 in Limpopo.

The collisions happened after a truck had a tyre burst and collided with several vehicles between Kranskop Toll Plaza and Nyl Plaza on Friday.

Ramaphosa’s Spokesperson, Khusela Diko says, “President Cyril Ramaphosa has learnt with great sadness the passing away of people in a multiple road accident on the N1 in Limpopo. The president has sent messages of condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones. He has also wished those who are in hospital speedy recovery. He has also commended the Department of Transport as well as emergency services for their prompt response.”
