The Committee co-ordinating Mama Winnie Madikizela Mandela‘s funeral says the memorial service will be held at Orlando Stadium.
Government had earlier said the memorial service would be Regina Mundi, but this has since been changed.
Dubbed the” Mother of the Nation”, the country continues to mourn the death of Mama Winnie. Preparations are well underway for her send off.
The inter-ministerial committee tasked with arranging preparations says both the memorial and funeral service will now be held at Orlando stadium. This is due to the number of people expected to attend.
“In consultation with Mrs Madikizela-Mandela family, government will host a memorial service at the Orlando Stadium on the 11th, followed by the funeral,” said member of the Inter-Ministerial Committee, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.
Madikizela-Mandela’s funeral is also expected to draw a number of foreign dignitaries. Dirco will give an update in the coming days.
