The Eastern Cape Department of Education says the preliminary investigation report relating to the death of a Bisho High learner, Lathitha Nako, has been submitted to its head office in Zwelitsha.

Three school teachers are still on special leave until the investigation into allegations of bullying that led to Nako’s death is finalised.

The department is yet to consult all the affected parties on the outcomes of the report, a process that is expected to begin next week where the contents of the report will first be tabled to the family of the deceased.

This, at the backdrop of an investigation that was lodged pertaining to the alleged religious intolerance that lead to Nako’s death.

Eastern Cape Department of Education spokesperson, Malibongwe Mtima, says, “Following the death of the Bisho High learner, the department had committed that it should be given seven days to investigation on the matter. All affected and implicated parties will now be consulted on the outcomes of the report and the sessions will start from the family of the deceased learner on the 15th of December this month to table to them the contents of the report, subsequent to that all the other affected parties should be given time and taken on board as well and steps to be taken where applicable.”
