Preferential treatment in prison

19 February- In life it’s always been said that it’s not about what you know, but who you know, something that became all too clear this week.

This as the so-called Waterkloof 4 or should we say, The Waterkloof 2, landed on front pages again barely a week after they were released from Kgosi Mampuru Prison in Pretoria.

After a video showing the two celebrating their imminent release in prison featured on social media.

This raises questions about some prisoners getting preferential treatment in jail. We spoke to Lukas Muntingh, project head for the Civil Society Prison Reform Initiative.
