Some political parties have expressed mixed reaction to the executive announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa. The President announced that half the 28 ministers are women. He also announced a number of young people have been placed in ministerial positions, including Ronald Lamola as Justice Minister.

However, DA leader Mmusi Maimane says he thinks it is more of the same with many of the same ministers from the previous administration.

“What SA needs is a different plan, it needs a plan to create work, Cabinet is reduced but has a whole lot of new deputies, reshuffled portfolios, added different characters – focus should have been on a smaller econ cluster.”

Meanwhile, the Freedom Front Plus says the newly appointed executive is a good step towards ensuring increased investment in the country. FF Plus leader Pieter Groenewald has expressed shock at the appointment of Patricia De Lille as Minister of Public Works.

The SACP has welcomed the appointments. Ramaphosa has dropped some of the ministers that were red flagged by the ANC Integrity Commission including Bathabile Dlamini, Malusi Gigaba and Nomvula Mokonyane among others.
