Political parties in the North West have raised concerns about some senior managers recently appointed by municipalities in the province.

This comes after the provincial government instructed the South African Local Government Association to speed up the appointments in a bid to improve service delivery.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) says some of the candidates do not meet the requirements for the positions while the Economic Freedom Fighters’ Thabo Sehloho says they will take the legal route if the department fails to correct this.

“We are not glad about the processes that have unfolded. The reason why is that some of the people appointed in this positions they do not meet requirements. Some were just appointed without relevant qualifications. We told the department to correct that mistake that the department that might have committed failure for that department to correct that and we will request the court to intervene and tell the department to correct that mess in the municipalities.”
