North West Premier, Supra Mahumapelo, says there is a political onslaught in the province aimed at unseating him from his position.

He was addressing the media in Mahikeng, after the Hawks raided his offices and those of the provincial Finance Department in search of documents related to alleged irregularities.

Mahumapelo, who is also the North West African National Congress (ANC) chairperson, says the party leadership in the province has discussed this matter, and will inform the public soon.

“We are going to convene at some point a detailed briefing. We had a discussion on Monday with the officials and the PEC about a political onslaught on this particular province. What the ANC will do in the province is to take you in confidence at the right time on how this particular onslaught is manifesting itself here in the province.”
