Political killings inquiry to grill Ipid delegation

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Moerane commission investigating politically related killings in KwaZulu-Natal continues with its sitting in Pietermaritzburg.

A delegation from the Independent Police Investigative Directorate will finally have its day before the commission.

The Ipid is expected to answer some of the allegations that were presented as evidence before the commission in relation to a number of cases from the Glebelands hostel near Umlazi south of Durban.

Evidence before the commission says close to 100 people have been killed at the notorious hostel since 2014.

Violence monitor Vanessa Burger had testified that there was a policeman that had sold guns to the fighting blocks at the hostel.

She also highlighted inefficiency of the Ipid office in KwaZulu-Natal.

The whole day is reserved for the Ipid delegation to table their side of the story.
