An off duty policeman is on the run following the death of a 31-year old woman in Zone 8 in Thembalethu in George in the Southern Cape Friday night.
Police spokesperson, Chris Spies, says the man from Middelburg in the Eastern Cape allegedly went to the house of the deceased looking for his girlfriend.
An altercation ensued and he allegedly shot the victim, who is the sister of his girlfriend. She died on the scene.
The suspect fled in a red Toyota Yaris and police started to search for him immediately.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate, who visited the scene, has taken over the investigation.
