Police say they cannot confirm at this stage if a video of families having a braai on the street in their neighbourhood in George in the Western Cape happened during the lockdown.
@SAPoliceService is this allowed? In the Heatherlands area in George. We have to remain in our homes while they braai in their streets. #21daylockdownSA #CoronavirusInSouthAfrica pic.twitter.com/EsnKsOoJBT

The video has gone viral on several social media platforms. It shows four families braaing on the road outside their houses.
The families appear to be chatting to each other from across the road and maintaining their social distancing. The video has sparked outrage from some who say the families have defied lockdown protocols by going outside of their yards to braai.
Some of them refused to comment when the SABC visited the area yesterday. Police are investigating the matter.
