Free State police have warned the public to be careful of a get rich quick scheme operating in the Bloemfontein and Welkom areas.

Police spokesperson Peter Kareli says they have launched an intense investigation following a number of reports received of people who were defrauded of their money.

Fraudsters allegedly approach employees working for government and convince them to retire from their jobs and invest their money with them.

They promise them their funds will double overnight. But the next day when the person goes to check, there is no sign of the fraudsters and the places where they met, are vacant.
