Police urge community to identify drown victim

Police in East London in the Eastern Cape have called on the public to help identify the body of a drowning victim at the Gcuwa River near Butterworth.

Police divers on Friday recovered the body after community members reported seeing a body floating in the river.

The male victim is wearing a long sleeve checkered shirt, dark pants and shoes.

The circumstances surrounding his death are still unclear and are being investigated.

Police have urged anyone who has a missing relative to contact the Butterworth police station or the Crimestop hotline on 08600 10111.
