On Tuesday night, five people were shot and killed after three gunmen burst into a house in W-section.

A police officer has been seriously injured after he was attacked by unknown suspects at K Section in Umlazi, south of Durban.

It is alleged that the police officer, who is stationed at Maydon Wharf, was waiting for transport to go to work when he was shot.

“This morning at 6:00 a police officer was waiting for transport to go to work at K Section in Umlazi when he was attacked by unknown suspects. He was shot and sustained various gunshot wounds. The police officer was robbed of his service pistol and wallet. He was rushed to the hospital for medical attention. The matter is being investigated by police. At this stage, no arrests have been made,” says Provincial Police Spokesperson Jay Naicker.

Limpopo cop killed

In Limpopo, police are still searching for the killers of the station commander in Groblersdal, Colonel Lebyane Jeffrey Seroka. Seroka was shot and killed in front of his house yesterday morning.

The vehicle belonging to the police officer was stolen by the attackers but was later found abandoned along the Dennilton-Maklerekeng road.

Police spokesperson Motlafela Mojapelo has urged anyone with information to contact Lieutenant Richard Boshomane on 079 894 5501 or the crime stop number 08600 10111.
