Police officer allegedly kills two after altercation

Two people have been killed and another critically injured allegedly at the hands of a police officer at Hluhluwe in northern KwaZulu-Natal.

Police spokesperson Thulani Zwane says the four had an argument before the police officer allegedly pulled a service pistol and opened fire.

Zwane says police and the Independent Police Investigative Directorate are investigating.

“Hluhluwe police opened two counts of murder as well as attempted murder case after there was a shooting reported last night at their area. The incident was reported last night when the police officer allegedly shot dead three people after an argument, two died instantly and third one was taken to hospital for further treatment. The police was later arrested and will appear in the Hluhluwe Magistrate’s Court facing charges of murder as well as an attempted murder case.”
