Police nab three suspects for armed robberies in Durban

Police have apprehended three men wanted in connection with a spate of recent armed robberies in the Umbilo and Glenwood areas in Durban.

Task team officers from Umbilo became suspicious when they noticed a vehicle without number plates in the area. Police approached the vehicle and a chase ensued. The suspects were arrested after their vehicle crashed.

Police Spokesperson Thembeka Mbele says the suspects were found with toy guns and several stolen cellphones in their possession.

“The vehicle was spotted on Moore Road with three occupants and they were approached by the police. The driver sped off and a chase ensued which resulted in the suspect losing control of the vehicle before they crashed. Three men between the ages of 19 and 23 were immediately arrested and when they were searched police found two 9mm toy guns and a number of stolen cellphones in their possession.”
