Cape Town Police are keeping a watchful eye on a demonstration by taxi drivers at Hout Bay in the Southern Peninsula.

Spokesperson, Andre Traut says traffic congestion is being experienced after a number of roads in the vicinity had to be closed due to the protest action.

Traut says no one has been arrested at this stage, but they are monitoring the situation.

He says they will stay in the area to maintain law and order and until they are satisfied that the situation has normalised.

On Tuesday, taxi drivers protested at the traffic department in Green Point in the city centre to demonstrate their unhappiness about the impounding of their vehicles by officials.
