PODCAST: Zooming into Your Community Part 8: Kutlwanong, Free State

Kutlwanong is a township in Odendaalsrus, which falls under the Matjhabeng Municipality, in the Free State. It was established to house black people during the apartheid era.

Kutlwanong is surrounded by two mines namely Phakisa and Tshepong which are managed by Harmony mine.

According to a Ward 22 Councillor, unemployment is sitting at 64% in that municipality. This figure is at 73%  among the youth. 15-20% of youth are working in the mines and 7-9% are professionals.

In this weekly feature, SABC News captures the voices of communities about their experience with service delivered by the municipality.

This week, Digital News producer Lebo Tshangela speaks to the community leaders and residents of Kutlwanong.
