PMF tournament incorporating the ladies’ game at this year’s edition

Chairman of the Phumudzo Manenzhe Foundation (PMF), custodians of the Sinthumule top 8 tournament, Phumudzo Manenzhe says there has been great response from local clubs for this year’s edition.

The tournament kicks- off with the quarter-finals on Saturday at Madombidhza Arsenal grounds in Ha-Sinthumule with the semi-finals and finals scheduled for December 26 at the same venue.

Manenzhe says they have incorporated the women’s game having invited elderly ladies club and female referees’ for the final day activities.

The tournament is in its fourth year of existence and the former Orlando Pirates striker says there has been plenty of success stories that have seen players from Limpopo’s Vhembe District getting professional contracts over the years.

The 35-year-old is also pleased that even the clubs that compete consistently in the tournament are finding themselves qualifying to be part of the lower promotional leagues.

Manenzhe is also going to fundraise on the final day of the tournament saying the money is used to buy sports equipment and kits for the clubs.


Manenzhe further says he has invited scouts from Premier Soccer League clubs and their development coaches saying he hopes players will capitalise on this opportunity. – Report by Lethabo Kganyago
