Judgment in the bail application of Soweto-born rapper Thulani Ngcobo, who is popularly known as Pitch Black Afro, will be delivered on 7 February at the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court.

Ngcobo has been charged with premeditated murder and defeating the ends of justice after being suspected of killing his wife, Catherine Modisane on December the 31st at a Bed and Breakfast business in Yeoville, Johannesburg.

Pitch Black Afro will have wait another week before he learns whether or not he will have to stay behind bars. The state has called on the court to deny the bail application, saying there are no exceptional circumstances justifying bail.

The state also submitted graphic photographs of the injuries sustained by Catherine Modisane, on New Year’s Eve, but Ngcobo’s lawyer said that the state’s case is weak and that they have insufficient evidence to prove that he murdered his wife.
