Pistorius’s bail extended

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Judge Thokozile Masipa has extended Oscar Pistorius’s bail at the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria and has set October 13-16 as dates for hearings and sentencing.

Masipa earlier found Pistorius guilty of culpable homicide after he shot and killed model girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, on Valentine’s morning 2013.

Pistorius was also found guilty of the negligent discharge of a gun at a restaurant. He was, however, found not guilty on the murder charge and the other two charges.

Meanwhile, different organisations have expressed their emotions on Masipa’s verdict.

The African National Congress Women’s League says although it respects the rule of law it is worried about the effect the judgement will have on women in the country.

The League’s spokesperson, Jackie Mofokeng, told the media outside court that they are very dissatisfied with the verdict.
