Orlando Pirates beat Highlands Park in the Telkom Knockout.

After a morale boosting win against the high-flying Highlands Park albeit with an offside goal, Orlando Pirates will head into this weekend’s Telkom Knockout Derby against Kaizer Chiefs high on confidence.

However, they take on a team that has had a great start to the season. Under-fire Pirates coach Rhulani Mokwena, who will be involved in his first Soweto Derby as head coach, says that his opposite number, Ernst Middendorp, is a good coach who knows what he’s doing.

“A good tactician, his teams are always posing a lot of technical tactical scenarios during 90 minutes. I think he’s a coach that is very clued up in what way that he wants his team to play. If you look at how his teams have always played be it Maritzburg, Free State, Golden Arrows,” says Mokwena.
