Residents of Phoenix, north of Durban, say they are concerned about escalating crime in their area.
This comes after a police officer and a civilian were wounded when 15 armed men robbed a jewellery store at the Phoenix Plaza.
The robbers escaped in three cars.

Concerned Phoenix resident Hussein Bacus says this is the fourth time the jewellery shop has been targeted.
“This is not the first time these stores got robbed. There are also other robberies in this area. The crime rate is very high. The police are trying their utmost best to curb the problem. I think the police are on top of their game but we need more police in this area,” he says.
Bacus also added they fear visiting the mall due to inadequate security personnel.
“We expect the police and security to be on high alert, especially in this busy area when it comes to the festive season and weekends,” he says.
