Bathabile Dlamini says the party has failed the women of South Africa.

The African National Congress Women’s league (ANCWL) has briefed members of the media on its position following the defeat of it’s presidential candidate, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma.

ANCWL President Bathabile Dlamini says the party has failed the women of South Africa. She says patriarchy is a demon that should be  dismantled.

Nevertheless,  Dlamini says they are proud that for the first time they had three female candidates standing up for the position of ANC president.

“We fought a good fight. This was history in the making for the women in the ANC. For the first time we had a female on the ballot paper as a presidential candidate. Our common goal should be fighting and defeating patriarchy,” she said.

Dlamini spoke strongly against the sexists remarks that were made about Dlamini-Zuma. She says her credentials were totally undermined.

She went to great lengths to emphasize the league’s mandate in  championing for women emancipation.
