A paramedic has managed to escape with a laceration on her face after a pastor allegedly assaulted her in Katlehong on the East Rand.
The ambulance crew was called to a church in Katlehong after a congregant collapsed when the incident occurred.
The pastor is understood to have refused to allow paramedics to assess the patient claiming that he had already died. The pastor then attempted to load the body into the ambulance when a confrontation occurred.
Ekuruleni EMS spokesperson William Ntladi says such acts against paramedics are unacceptable.
“It’s quite a burning issue and a big concern and more over after we had communicated this thing two three weeks back when we pleaded with members of the public to give us a chance as paramedics and fire fighters in our line of duty were we are being intimidated, resources are being broken into, fire stations are being broken, vehicles are being broken and as a result we find that we are being intimidated.”
